President Benigno C. Aquino III has earned high remarks from Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog as the Chief Executive prepares for the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) in July.
Despite the recent low approval ratings of the President in surveys, “he has done a lot of good things for the country in one year,” Mabilog said.
He also said Aquino has the moral ascendancy over and above everyone.
“He has shown us true leadership by example,” he added.
The mayor observes that the present administration has implemented a lot of programs and projects benefiting the nation.
He cited the ongoing Pantawid Pasada and Pantawid Pamilya programs, the expanded coverage of indigency program of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), and some projects that even the President’s sisters are involved in.
Currently being implemented here is the 1Meal program which presidential sister Ballsy Aquino-Cruz launched in April.
It is a public-private partnership that obtains P5-donation for every bill of at least P200 from customers who eat at accredited restaurants. The fund is then used for helping less-privileged schools in the city through supplemental feeding, giving of school supplies, facilities and others.
