Local government units (LGUs) and business groups are encouraged to support the new program of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) on fund provision and fund generation.
PCSO Director Francisco G. Joaquin III in a luncheon meeting with selected local chief executives (LCEs) from the province and city of Iloilo said that they have decided to bring PCSO closer to the people and focus more on the charity aspect.
He announced that PCSO is now embarking on a program dubbed as PCSO At Source Ang Processing (ASAP). Under the program patients that have been identified as indigents will be interviewed right at the health facility while accredited hospitals and the PCSO will already be the one to talk as to payment details.
Currently, patients or their representatives are the ones transacting at the PCSO whereas in the new program it is the PCSO that will go to the people.
Joaquin also met with hospital heads on Monday to discuss the scheme as he disclosed that they would already be implementing the program in Manila first week of April.
