Esperanza Cabral, in an interview, said that she will do her best to work well in DOH (Department of Health) for the remaining months in order to provide adequate health care for our countrymen.
“I am very thankful for President Arroyo for giving me this chance,” she said.
Cabral also said that her successor at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will not have hard time taking over the agency as its programs for the year are already laid now.
The DSWD will be now headed by Undersecretary Celia Yangco.
Cabral earlier vowed that her agency will continue to serve the needy members of Philippine society with “commitment and dedication this 2010 and all the years to come.”
“As the DSWD celebrates its 59th foundation anniversary in January 2010, its workers will continue to make the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable Filipinos better by being there to provide them with their needs in times of critical situations and to lend a helping hand,” Cabral said.
Cabral also said that one of the agency’s priorities is to ensure the steady implementation of the “Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program” (4Ps) given its expanded coverage and geographical reach.
Likewise, she said the DSWD aims to strengthen the targeting mechanism through completion of the database of poor households as basis for identification of beneficiaries of social protection programs.
