A total of five suspected gun-for-hire personalities in Negros Oriental have been neutralized with the arrest of two more suspects on Sunday following a search in their respective residences in Bayawan City, about 100 kilometers south of this capital.
Booked for illegal possession of explosives were Jasper Tanasan, also known as “Bobong” and Pacito Libron for illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
Recovered from Tanasan’s residence were a hand grenade and two firearms, a caliber 357 revolver and cal. 45 pistol. He was however, able to present documents for the two firearms.
On the other hand, recovered from Libron’s residence were an M-16 rifle with seven magazines containing 181 rounds of ammunition, a barrel for cal. 45 pistol, a rifle grenade, empty magazine for shotgun, a licensed 9-MM pistol with 26 live ammunition and spent shells, among others.
The other suspected hired guns, namely, Herman Escora, Anthony Luterio, are detained at the PNP headquarters in Agan-an, Sibulan while Rio Siason is detained at the Basay municipal jail for murder.
Tanasan and Libron are also detained at the PNP provincial headquarters but in a separate cell from Escora and Luterio.
PNP provincial director Sr. Supt. Eduard Carrranza said the joint raiding team was led by his deputy for operations Supt. Alet Virtucio and composed of the Special Operations Group, Provincial Intelligence Branch, Provincial Public Safety Company and the National Bureau of Investigation.
