Earnings report and anticipation of a good inflation figure boosted both the local bourse and the peso Thursday, with the main stocks index posting another record high.
The Philippine Stocks Exchange index (PSEi) registered fresh high at 5,300.41, up by 71.57 points or 1.3688 percent from the previous record high of 5,,228.84 points Wednesday.
Also, the broader all shares index went up by 37.32 points or 1.076 percent to 3,505.62 from day-ago’s negative performance ending of 3,468.30 points.
All the sectoral indices also tracked the main index and ended the trading on a positive level.
Value turn-over is high at P9.1 billion after 3.1 billion shares changed hands.
Gainers edged losers at 83 to 79 while 42 were unchanged.
Relatively, the peso moved sideways and gained P0.03 against the dollar after closing at P42.17 from the previous day’s P42.20.
It opened at P42.20, weaker than day-ago’s P42.15.
Strongest for the day was registered at P42.16 while weakest was at P42.24 bringing the average to P42.21, down from Wednesday’s P42.17.
