The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is encouraging small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) to join the GlobalPack International Conference slated to be held on July 25 to 27 in Iloilo city.
DOST Regional Director Rowen Gelonga said that through the conference the SMEs could learn a lot on how to improve their micro-enterprises because of the international experts on packaging who would be here to share their knowledge and expertise.
One of the speakers will be Tom Sneider, international magazine president, who will talk on how packaging greatly contributes to profitability.
The pre-conference on July 25 that will be held at Central Philippine University campus is intended for the SMEs to get information which they could apply in improving their products.
An example of the product is pinasugbo or banana cracker that is now famous in the United States. With the proper packaging, the shell life of the exportable product could be extended and SMEs cut down wastage.
The conference proper will be held at Sarabia Manor Hotel on July 26 to 27.
