Free Hygiene Kits for Women
The United Nations Population Fund Agency (UNFPA) has released 280 hygiene kits for women of reproductive age specially pregnant and lactating mothers in the evacuation centers in Albay province.
Dr. Luis Mendoza, Albay Provincial Health Officer, announced that the hygiene kits are initial aid of the UNFPA for the women in the province.
“The UNFPA is always in support to the efforts of the provincial government of Albay in promoting the right of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunity,” Mendoza said.
Mendoza said that proper hygiene in evacuation camp is in the close watch by assigned health worker. “UNFPA seeks to make women as safe as possible by helping those in crisis or victims of calamity.”
“When crisis strikes, like floods and landslide because of continuous heavy rains, the immediate intervention of the provincial health office is to make sure the health of every affected person regardless of the gender,” Mendoza added.
UNFPA has taken the lead in organizing and distributing hygiene kits based on what local women have said they need. The hygiene kit included sanitary supplies, underwear, towel and toiletries.
