France’s Maison Albert Bichot Helps Japan Earthquake Victims

France’s Maison Albert Bichot has launched a wine sales campaign to assist children orphaned in the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
Revenue from the sales will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society to support such children.

The company is selling Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru les Murgers online until the end of April at 120 euros per 1.5-liter bottle. The wine will be delivered to buyers in spring 2012.

The independent wine house in the Bourgogne region, eastern France, is known as the producer behind a wine that features “Kami no Shizuku,” a wine-themed popular Japanese comic book series.

Alberic Bichot, who represents the sixth generation to head the family business, has visited Japan, one of its largest markets, more than 40 times.
