Framework on sanitary registration in Mexico
The Mexican Federal Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risk (COFEPRIS) has made substantial regulatory improvements within its framework on sanitary registration.
In a statement Tuesday, the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) said such reforms would enhance the business environment and promote market efficiency in Mexico.
The regulatory improvements include declassifying 1,669 items that are now no longer considered medical devices and do not require COFEPRIS registration, it said.
Matrade said products in this category included fitness equipment, adapters for electrosurgical unit, cervical pillow, heel support and medical cups among others.
It added that 98 other items have been reclassified within a new category known as Class 1A as low risk medical devices with a simplified registration process.
