Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Corazon Juliano-Soliman said that the agency will transport Tuesday 10,000 food packs to Iligan City to help families severely displaced by the floods.
She said that the food will be immediately brought to the food kitchens set up in the area to feed the hungry families gathered in 10 evacuation centers.
“The community kitchens have been organized and they are now providing food at the evacuation centers,” Soliman said.
Between 10,000 to 12,000 families will benefit from the food.
Around 200 DSWD personnel will participate in the food distribution activity.
An estimated 20,000 families in Cagayan De Oro were affected by flooding caused by “Sendong.”
“We are also preparing to airlift dry clothes from our warehouse so that dry clothes can be used by our kababayans,” she said.
The DSWD chief added that damaged houses will also be provided P5,000 emergency shelter assistance on average for house repair.
