More than 500 residents in the flood-affected town of Derbent and the Sabnova village have turned for medical and psychological aid. The main department of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for Dagestan reports that more than 2,450 cubic meters of dirt and garbage had been taken away by 15:00 on Thursday. Repair workers have replaced 200 meters of damaged pipelines and organized six points for distribution of clear drinking water. About 120,000 liters of water have been handed out to the population.
More than 700 people and 178 equipment units have been mobilized to overcome the consequences of the recent natural disaster.
Torrential rain fell on Derbent and its outskirts on the night to October 10. It poured for three hours. The disaster claimed the lives of six people. A family of three and a ten-month old child died in the rain-caused flood. Three hundred twenty private land allotments and private households have been inundated. A total of 1,120 people, including 280 people, have found themselves in the flood-stricken areas.
