The establishment of the province’s first childhood care center is now underway.
This came after the recent ratification by the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the municipality of Samal and the Early Childhood Care and Development Center (ECCDC).
The confirmation of the MOA came three months after Mayor Gene Malibiran dela Fuente and ECCDC, through director Delia H. Ganaden signed the agreement last August 9 for the construction of a P2.2 million worth of children’s facility to serve as development and training center for children, as well as their parents.
“The ratification of the MOA is a welcome sign that the National Children’s Center will soon see its birth in Samal. Needless to say, I have been working hard to bring to our town all the assistance we could get from the national level to provide the best possible services for Samalenos, especially the children,” the mayor said.
The ECCDC has chosen Samal to be the recipient of the children’s facility on the basis of its policies and programs for the welfare of young kids in the areas of their health, education and security.
Executive Director Teresita G. Inciong said the ECCDC has programmed to construct and maintain only 500 NCCs all over the country and Samal will be the second recipient in Central Luzon.
Inciong said that they have been very careful in choosing the recipient LGU as they have to ensure that the project gets the full support of the local officials for the continuity of the program.
Under the agreement, the ECCDC will provide for the building, instructional and other basic education and training materials for pre-school children, as well as the salary for the teacher.
