A hired truck of the Energy Development Corp. (EDC), producer of geothermal power in Mount Apo, caught fire on Tuesday morning while traversing along Barangay Ilomavis, this city, but was eventually contained, a belated report said.
Ilomavis village is situated at the foot of the mountain.
The fire was put off some two hours later with help of the Bureau of Fire Protection, according to Evy Henson, public relations officer of the EDC Public Relations Department.
The truck was loaded with chemicals needed for the operations of the geothermal power plants.
“We have employed all available resources to mitigate the situation. We will also investigate as to what caused the fire,” said Henson.
The truck conflagration started around 11 a.m. and was put off around 12:45 p.m. without damage to people, facilities and environment, she said.
The EDC owns two geothermal power plants located at Mount Apo.
