Financial System in Spain
Nikkei opened lower Tuesday as concern increased over the financial system in Spain amid the eurozone debt crisis.
In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 53.06 points, or 0.62 percent, from Monday to 8,540. 09.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange shed 3.82 points, or 0.53 percent, to 717.29.
