A new CNN poll released Friday showed that the economy is the No. 1 worry for Americans and half name unemployment as the most important issue related to the economy.
The majority of people, 57 percent, said the economy was the most important issue facing the country. When asked to name the country’s biggest economic problem, 51 percent of Americans chose unemployment.
Seven of ten people, 70 percent, said things are going badly in the country, while three in ten said things were going well.
The CNN poll was conducted by telephone from Dec. 16 to Dec. 18 among 1,015 adult Americans.
According to the U.S. Commerce Department, consumer spending rose just 0.1 percent in November, while the incomes also rose 0.1 percent, the weakest reading since August.
