Election inspectors and municipal treasurers Sunday reported to the Benguet provincial capitol here to wait for the election paraphernalia to be used in Monday’s polls, according to Benguet provincial election supervisor Elenita Julia Tabangin.
Despite of the delay, she said the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) central office assured the arrival of the needed ballots and other needs for the barangay elections in the province today.
“If it is needed that we have to sort out the materials late in the night then, we would do it in the interest of government service,” she said.
Tabangin reminded all the residents in the province and outlying areas that the liquor ban has already took effect and will only be lifted after the election Monday.
She also observed that due to the strict implementation of the Philippine National Police (PNP) of the election gun ban and other related laws, “our communities remain very peaceful and orderly. I have not noted yet of any violation of the election rules since the election period started last month.”
