Earth Day Falls on Good Friday Holiday

The influential Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines has urged President Benigno Aquino III to postpone the celebration of Earth Day next week, April 22, which falls on Good Friday.

We cannot celebrate Earth Day because it falls on Good Friday which is a holy day and a big celebration for the Church],” Bishop Broderick Pabillo said in a radio interview over Radyo Veritas.

Pabillo said Filipinos are most likely reflecting during the Holy Week.

I hope the government transfers the celebration to a later date because this is a day of reflection and sacrifice],” he said.
