DTI launches e-Presyo app in Ilocos Norte
LAOAG CITY, Dec. 27 (PNA) —- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) launched on Tuesday an Online Price Monitoring System in this city that seeks to strengthen consumer protection here.
Attended by consumer groups, retailers, and other business organizations in the entire province, the price app can be downloaded in smartphones where consumers can readily access when shopping for groceries. The app can also be accessed via personal computer or the DTI website.
Robert Baniqued, Regional Director of DTI, told consumers during the launching held at the function hall of Renzo Hotel, this city, that it is very important that consumers are aware of the prevailing prices of basic and prime commodities and for them to identify owners of department stores or any commercial establishments who are not following the suggested retail price being monitored by the DTI.
Baniqued added the app is also useful for consumers to compare prices with other areas as the prices of basic and prime commodities are on freeze based on the latest price before a typhoon.
The DTI officially launched the e-Presyo program in October 2016 in Metro Manila and later on followed suit in various parts of the country.
“The OPMS covers a nationwide price data which can be accessed anytime and anywhere through its mobile application,” Baniqued said.
During the launching, the consumer and price act as embodied under the Constitution of the Philippines were discussed to the participants for them to become fully aware of their rights and ensure full compliance with the law. (PNA)
