A total of 48 pet owners paraded their dogs dressed in differently-designed attire as they participated in a Dog Fashion Show Sunday in this southern port city.
The dog show that featured different breed of dogs started at 2 p.m. and was held at the covered court of the elementary school in Barangay Sta. Maria, this city.
Of the 48 pet owners, 28 participated in the Fashion Show of Small Breed Category while the remaining 20 took part in the Fashion Show of Large Breed Category.
Certificates and other prizes were given to the winners of each of the two categories.
During the program, the Western Mindanao K9 Agility Club and the Tulisan American Pitbull Terrier Club rendered intermission numbers demonstrating their respective pets’ talents.
City Veterinarian Mario Ariola said the Dog Fashion Show was aimed at raising public awareness and to encourage the people to become responsible pet owners.
Ariola said the Dog Fashion Show was held in line with the Feast of Saint Francis de Assisi, which is being observed every fourth day of this month, and in line with the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival 2010.
The Zamboanga Hermosa Festival kicked off last Friday and will culminate on October 12, the feast day of Our Lady of the Pillar.
The Dog Fashion Show started with the blessing of all entries by Fr. Moises Cuevas.
The event, the second to be held in Zamboanga City, was sponsored by the City Veterianarian’s Office and the local government of Zamboanga.
The first Dog Fashion Show was held in October of last year. (PNA)
