Iran and Senegal has agreed on the resumption of their diplomatic relations and the reopening of their embassies in Tehran and Dakar, Senegalese Foreign Ministers Mankeur Ndiaye told reporters Thursday.

"Senegal’s President Macky Sall and Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad held a meeting Wednesday in Cairo and agreed to resume diplomatic ties between the two countries," Ndiaye said, adding that he signed a joint statement with his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi in this regard.

Ahmadinejad and Sall were in Cairo to attend the two-day summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which was concluded Thursday.
