Davao City to honor top 10 real estate, business taxpayers
DAVAO CITY, March 4 (PNA) –The Davao City government is set to honor the Top 19 real estate taxpayers and the Top 10 business taxpayers in the city for 2016.
”A shortlist of the nominees have been submitted to the City Mayor’s Office for the Pasidungog Awardees,” Davao City Investment Promotion Center (DCIPC) head Lemuel Ortonio said, although the final of the top taxpayers has not been released yet.
Through “Pasidungog: Garbo sa Dabaw (Award: Pride of Davao)” slated on March 13 as part of the 80th Araw ng Davao celebration, the city government will recognize Davaoeños who have contributed to the city’s growth.
One of the groups that will be recognized are companies that have made it to the list of top real estate and business taxpayers.
City Tourism Officer Regina Tecson said Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio wanted to give tokens to some Davaoeños, including the city’s Top 10 taxpayers as well as individuals and organizations who have made a name for themselves in the past year.
Almost the same companies have made it to the list of the City Treasurer’s top taxpayers year after year.
The Davao Light and Power Corp. (DLPC) was the top taxpayer for 2014 with total taxes paid amounting to Php 83.69 million. This was the second straight year that DLPC was named as the highest taxpayer.
Other companies that were already listed in the past as top taxpayers in the city were SM Davao Department Store, Coca Cola FEMSA, Holcim, NCCC Supermarket Maa and Gaisano Mall of Davao.
The other previous top taxpayers were SM Supermarket, Mindanao Shoppers Daily, Mindanao Corrugated and NCCC Supermarket Magsaysay. Agricultural companies like Stanfilco and Lapanday Foods also made it to the list of Top 20 taxpayers in 2015.(PNA)
