Some 5,000 cooperative members will troop to Pototan on Wednesday to launch the Iloilo Cooperative Month.
There are about 400 cooperatives registered with the CDA in Iloilo mostly engaged in credit micro-financing. The program will start with a motorcade followed by the awarding of Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) and Land Bank of the Philippines to outstanding cooperatives in the province.
The Cooperative Month celebration will culminate on Oct 31 with Cong. Cynthia Villar as special guest.
Atty. Arturo Cangrejo, chief of the Iloilo Provincial Cooperative Office, said aside from the program on Wednesday, they have slated other various activities such as the opening of the Cooperative Exhibit at the lobby of the New Iloilo Capitol on Oct. 8.
Around 15 cooperatives from the different sectors such as the fisher folks, farmers groups, and from the cut flower industry will showcase and sell their products.
“Another activity was the holding of the National Cooperative Summit in Cagayan de Oro on Oct. 10,” Cangrejo said.
