CEBU Air Inc., the operator of the Philippines largest budget carrier on Monday said passenger carried grew by double digits in the second quarter of the year compared to the same period last year.
In a statement, Cebu Pacific said it flew more than 3.1 million passengers both domestic and international from April to June, up by 15 percent in the same period last year.
Of the total passengers during the quarter, Cebu Pacific flew over 683,000 international passengers , up 21 percent compared to the same period last year.
Domestic passengers carried, on the other hand, reached 2.43 million in the second quarter of the year, up 13 percent compared to the same period in 2010.
Cebu Pacific said these second quarter figures keep the airline on track in achieving its 12 million-passenger target this year.
The budget airline also said that it also achieved a record 89 percent load factor in the second quarter, surpassing the 87 percent load factors in the first quarter of 2011 and the 88 percent load factor in the second quarter of last year.
“CEB posted strong growth figures in the second quarter of 2011, given its trademark lowest fares, extensive route network and innovative travel services. April and May are seasonally the strongest in domestic travel, and we will remain consistent in growing the market so every Juan gets the chance to fly,” Candice Iyog, the airline’s vice president for marketing and distribution said.
