Boys’ and Girls’ Week project of the Rotary Club of Iloilo City

Forty-nine students from public and private high schools here have occupied the highest positions in the city government in line with the annual celebration of Boys’ and Girls’ Week project of the Rotary Club of Iloilo City.

The select student leaders perform the functions and responsibilities and work together with their counterparts in governance and legislation starting Monday to Friday.

Leading this year’s boy and girl officials is Kristiana Claire Yray of Ateneo de Iloilo, who was chosen Girl City Mayor, with Alera Maristel Lapascua of Colegio de las Hijas de Jesus as Girl Vice Mayor.

“We welcome these young leaders as we pin our hopes on them to someday bring our city to even greater heights,” Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog said.

He said it was important that the youth be trained early on in managing the affairs of the city as they might also involve themselves in city administration someday.

Yray thanked the city government and Rotary Club of Iloilo City for the rare opportunity to learn the real meaning and true essence of public service and good governance.
