The Baguio Flower Festival or “Panagbenga” here next year will have a subsidy of P4 million to adequately finance the biggest tourism even yearly in this mountain resort, City Mayor Mauricio Domogan Thursday said.
He said that P2 million will be used for the prizes of winners in the various contests like street dancing, float parade, landscaping, arts and others.
“The other P2 million will be used for the assistance of participating schools and other needs. Half of the intended allocation will come from the countryside development fund of Congressman Bernardo Vergara while the rest will be from the funds of the city,” Domogan explained.
For more than a decade, the festival had drawn millions of tourists to this city for the whole month of February each year.
For the festival’s main highlights of street dancing and float parade has for each year drew an average of 500,000 visitors.
