Bacolod City mayor issues EO creating Task Group Bantay Negosyo
BACOLOD CITY, Dec. 27 (PNA) — Mayor Evelio Leonardia issued an Executive Order (EO) Tuesday creating the Task Group Bantay Negosyo to prevent the occurrence of more crimes victimizing business establishments in this city.
Leonardia, who named Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran as head of the task group, formed the body after the robbery-killing of Chinese businessman Changle Wu and security guard Jilbert Mayang on Christmas night.
He also directed Senior Superintendent Flynn Dongbo, acting director of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), to solve the crime and discuss security measures to prevent similar incidents.
As head of Task Group Bantay Negosyo, Familiaran will be joined by interim officers from various business groups in the city.
Members from the various business groups include Alfredo Barcelona and Ben Ortega of Bacolod Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Roberto Montelibano and Leonito Lopue of Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Tsai Wen Ming and Kim Tan of Chinese Chamber of Commerce; and Crispin Chua and Roger Yap of Amity Fire Brigade.
The Task Group Bantay Negosyo will hold regular meetings to discuss security measures to protect business establishments against robbery, hold-ups, and other crimes.
Initial discussions include providing a hotline to speed up police response during crimes, putting up of more lighting facilities in strategic places, installation of high-definition closed-circuit television cameras in every establishment, conducting seminars and information campaign for store staff and personnel on how to be more security-conscious, and deployment of barangay tanods to patrol around business establishments at downtown area.(PNA)
