Avid passengers of flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) need not worry of reduced privileges during flights as it assured continuous delivery of food and newspapers even in short-hauled travels.
PAL president and chief operating officer Jaime Bautista told reporters that the looming retrenchment of 2,600 employees servicing its ground, call center, and catering operations will not affect its in-flight services.
“There will be no changes on the benefits of our passengers, whether domestic or international. We still give free newspapers, simple drinks, and cookies for domestic flights. The market we would want to keep are those who want these amenities,” he said.
Even in the face of cutthroat competition and losses amounting to nearly P15 billion in the past two years, Bautista said the company is not keen to transform itself as a low-cost carrier since its sister airline Airphil Express is already there to capture just that. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
