Aquino’s Accomplishments Mentioned in SONA 2011

President Benigno Simeon Aquino III has, in his one-year-old of leadership, has substantial accomplishments in infrastructure, investments, agriculture and other aspects of development of the country.

This was according to Benguet congressman Ronald Cosalan said in reaction to the President’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered during the opening of the Philippines’ 16th Congress Monday.

Cosalan, chair of the House of Representatives committee on roads and bridges, said the various road repairs and constructions are going on in various parts of the country to further boost commerce, industry and agriculture in those areas.

With the help of these infrastructures, the President has reported that rice production has gone up during the first year of his term resulting in the importation of rice going down from 1.3 million metric tons to only 666 metric tons – based on the average consumption of the populace.

Cosalan described the President’s SONA as true, sincere and factual.

He noted the increased investors confidence “mainly due to the stamping out of graft and corruption.”

As included in the speech of the President, he revealed that the highest index rate in the local stock market was just registered recently.
