April 21 Non-working Holiday in Calamba, Laguna

President Benigno S. Aquino III has declared April 21, which falls on a Saturday, as a special non-working day in the city of Calamba in Laguna in celebration of its 11th Citihood Anniversary.

By virtue of Proclamation No. 357 signed by Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa Jr. on March 27, the Chief Executive issued the declaration to give the people of the city the full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies.

With the passage of Republic Act No. 9024 on April 7, 2001 and the approval of the residents in a plebiscite on April 21, 2001, the municipality of Calamba became a component city of the province of Laguna.

Calamba is the second component city of Laguna after San Pablo.
