Ambush in Compostela Valley

A landmine exploded in a Barangay in Maco, Compostela Valley (Comval) Province, killing a civilian and wounding six others, including two soldiers, around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, February 13.

Initial military reports identified the fatality as Nicolas Paquingan of Barangay Dumlan and the wounded soldiers as Privates First Class Odchigue and Dolnuan.

Captain Rosa Maria Manuel, spokesperson of the 10th Infantry Division, revealed that the convoy of military trucks was transporting civilians to their respective barangays after attending a peace and development rally at Maco, Comval Province.

The attack happened as the convoy passed by Purok 6 in Barangay Libay-libay, Maco.
