Here’s another piece of pleasant news for the fans of the Air Asia-Philippine Patriots.
Aside from ending a three-game losing streak with a 73-71 win over the Kuala Lumpur Dragons the other day, the PH Patriots management announced Friday that former import, Gabe Freeman, will be back to further boost their title-retention bid in the AirAsia ASEAN Basketball League Season 2.
Freeman, according to team manager Erick Arejola, is arriving next week in time for their game against the Singapore Slingers on December 18 at the Ynares Sports Arena.
The 6-foot-5 Freeman, who played for San Miguel Beer the past two seasons, helped the Patriots win the inaugural championship by sweeping past Indonesia’s Satria Muda BritAma in their best-of-five title series early this year.
He will replace Hashiem Wright who led the team to a vengeful victory against the Dragons with 21 points.
Owned by Harbour Centre CEO Mikee Romero and Tony Boy Cojuangco, the Patriots lost to Dragons, 96-81, in their first meeting two weeks ago in Kuala Lumpur.
