The Department of Social Welfare and Development is set to conduct a media forum on Feb. 10 to raise awareness to the general public on legal adoption processes. Aware of the media’s role in information dissemination and nation-building, the committee devoted one day for the media to discuss topics on detection and prevention of simulated birth, role of media in promoting legal adoption and related laws on adoption.
Officer- in-charge regional director Marlene Febes-Peralta said the activity will help the public understand and be aware of the process of adoption. It also aims to strengthen media partnership in DSWD’s advocacy endeavors on adoption and other alternative parental care programs, she said. The activity forms part of the Adoption Consciousness Day as per Proclamation No. 72, which is usually celebrated every first Saturday of February.
