At least 15 colleges and universities in Region 12 or Southwestern Mindanao are joining the upcoming 3rd Regional Convention for Information Technology Students and Educators slated later this month in nearby Koronadal City in South Cotabato.
The three-day activity, which will be held on September 23 to 25 at the Notre Dame of Marbel University in Koronadal, is sponsored by the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE) and the Philippine Society of Information Technology Students (PSITS) in the region.
Martina Tagacay, PSITE regional president, the activity mainly aims to strengthen and expose young minds to the latest innovations, technological ventures and leading breakthroughs in information technology (IT) industry.
She said the gathering will focus on the theme: “Making IT in Region 12 remarkable and competent through excellent education.”
Tagacay said the lined up activities include competitions on programming, electronic logo making, e-poster making contest, Pinoy games and quiz bee, among others.
She said top IT experts will hold talks on IT technology trends like robotics and present some latest IT-related studies and researches.
Among the colleges and universities that signified to join the activity are Notre Dame of Marbel University, AMA CLC-Koronadal, Holy Child College of Information technology, Notre Dame of Tacurong College, Notre Dame University-Cotabato City, Notre Dame of Midsayap, Notre Dame of Kidapawan College, Sultan Kudarat Polytechnic University, Southern Baptist College-Mlang, University of Mindanao-Maguindanao, Northern Valley College Foundation-Kidapawan and Southern Christian College-Midsayap.
Region 12 comprises the provinces of South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, North Cotabato and the cities of General Santos, Koronadal, Tacurong, Kidapawan and Cotabato.
