A total 137 U.S. Peace Corps volunteers who will be serving in the Visayas and Luzon will be sworn in at simultaneous ceremonies in the cities of Bacolod and Pasig on Friday, November 12, the U.S. embassy announced.
The 71 volunteers for the Visayas and 66 for northern Luzon compose the 269th batch of PCVs to serve in the Philippines, which will bring to a total 216 their current number here.
The afternoon ceremony at the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City will be led by U.S. Ambassador Harry K. Thomas Jr. and Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo G. Marañon Jr.
In Pasig City, the afternoon ceremony at the Meralco Multi-Purporse Hall, Meralco Complex, Ortigas Avenue will be led by the U.S. embassy’s Deputy Chief of Mission Leslie A. Bassett and Peace Corps Philippines Country Director Sonia Derenoncourt. (PNA)
