The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said the first day of the five-day filing period for candidates running in the senatorial race in the 2013 midterm polls was peaceful and successful.
“I think the day has been very successful, except for the number of people and the volume of activities outside. All of the activities in here went very smoothly. Walang hassle,” said James Jimenez, Comelec spokesperson.
He was referring to the numerous groups of supporters who accompanied the candidates infiling their COCs.
A total of 20 senatorial aspirants have filed their respective COCs as of 5 p.m. Monday.
