President Benigno Simeon Aquino III tendered Friday night a testimonial dinner in honor of Assistant City Prosecutor and 2011 Trafficking in Person Hero Darlene Pajarito in Malacañang.
The event was also a recognition of Zamboanga’s ever-aggressive anti-human trafficking campaign undertaken through the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT), which is composed of various concerned agencies that include the police and other law enforcement agencies, City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), other government agencies and non-government organizations (NGOs.)
Mayor Celso Lobregat and officials of IACAT and other concerned individuals were invited to the event held at the Rizal Hall at Malacañang Palace.
Pajarito, who handled the prosecution of numerous anti-trafficking cases that were decided and pending in Court, was recently recognized as one of the world’s 10 heroes in the fight against trafficking by the U.S. State Department.
The awarding ceremony was held last month in the U.S. with no less than U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as guest.
