Sutherland Global Services Philippines, a business process outsourcing (BPO) firm based inside this Freeport has bagged, for the third time, the 2011 Outstanding Employer Award given by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
Sponsored by PEZA, in cooperation with the Philippine Ecozones Association, the Outstanding Employer Award is given to organizations that generated the most number of jobs, held high regard for the welfare of its workers, and maintained harmony between labor and management.
In his congratulatory message to the Philippines’ management team, Sutherland chairman and CEO Dilip Vellodi said, “to win this prestigious award year after year is a very strong testament to the dedication of our employees in the Philippines, who have all helped in making this happen.”
Sutherland’s latest award also assures it the privilege of being included in PEZA’s Hall of Fame in next year’s awards -– a distinction reserved only for a handful of companies which have won the award three times.
“Since our launch in 2005, our operations in the Philippines have become a strategic component of our global service delivery model. The country’s favorable economic environment, business-friendly government policies and, above all, the technically-skilled and committed workforce have been driving forces in our ability to rapidly scale our operations across several locations in the country,” Vellodi said.
Aside from receiving PEZA’s award thrice, Sutherland also received the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) for Commitment to Quality Management during the 11th PQA conferment rites conducted annually by the Department of Trade and Industry.
Sutherland is the first and only BPO in the last 10 years to receive this award.
Starting with 150 employees in 2005, Sutherland Global Services Philippines inside the Clark Freeport is more than 13,000-strong today -– a growth of over 8600 percent. – PNA
