At least 12 injured in blast near hospital in Pakistan’s Quetta

NEW DELHI – A powerful explosion took place on Thursday morning near Al-Khair Hospital, also spelled as Akram, in the city of Quetta in southwestern Pakistan, injuring at least 12 people, local media reported.

A bomb went off at Quetta’s Zarghon Road, The Express Tribune said. The causes of the explosion remain unknown, the newspaper added.

Rescue and security teams arrived at the scene, while the police cordoned off the area, the daily specified.

This is already the second blast within a week in Baluchistan province. On Monday, more than 70 people were killed in a suspected suicide bombing at the Quetta civil hospital in Balochistan. The militant group Jamaat-ur-Ahrar, a splinter faction of the Pakistani Taliban, claimed responsibility for the attack. (PNA/Sputnik)
